Pre-Professional Areas of Study

Many professions require advanced study beyond the bachelor’s degree. Mayville State’s pre-professional areas of study identify common majors that prepare you for post-baccalaureate professional or graduate schools in advanced fields.

While our pre-professional areas of study provide general guidance for selection of a major, it is important to work closely with your academic advisor in identifying your overall plan of study while at Mayville State University. Your advisor will help you identify the best choice of major, minor, and/or specific courses to prepare you for professional or graduate school. A pre-professional area of study is not itself a major. It is a plan of study to prepare you for graduate or professional school. In identifying potential professional schools or programs, your advisor can further guide you in preparing for required entrance exams (e.g., GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) as well as internships, special projects, or other activities that may help prepare you.

The below pre-professional areas of study identify many common professions where advanced study beyond the baccalaureate is required. If you do not see a specific profession identified below, please visit with your advisor.
