Transfer Student Requirements

To be considered for admission, transfer applicants must submit the following:

  1. A completed Application for Admission
  2. Official transcript(s) of all previous academic coursework from each institution attended by the applicant.
    1. Transfer students may not disregard any part of their previous college record. Failure to report all college and university enrollment may result in dismissal.
    2. If you completed fewer than 24 college credits, your high school record will be taken into consideration along with your college record.
    3. If you are currently attending another college or university, submit an in-progress transcript.

Applicants who have 24 or more completed transferable college credits shall be admitted to Mayville State University if:

  1. Applicant is not on dismissed or suspension status at their most recent institution attended;
  2. Applicant presents a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on all transferable work attempted at all institutions previously attended.

Transfer applicants who do not meet these requirements may be evaluated on an individual basis.

Upon receipt of all transcripts, the Academic Records Office and the corresponding division chairs determine course equivalencies, as well as those credits that may be applied to the General Education Requirements. Evaluation of credits as they apply to the student's major is done in consultation with the division chair. The evaluation occurs when the student applies, prior to enrolling in their first term. For more details on the transfer of credit, you will find more information in the Transfer Credit link below.

To help in preparation for transfer, courses that are accepted as Mayville State University course equivalencies uses the Transfer Evaluation System (TES), to review and document course equivalencies.
