Developmental Instruction
Courses in Developmental Math and English are available to prepare students for college-level work. The courses are designed for students who need assistance developing skills that promote successful performance in college.
Academic Support Services
Academic Support Services are available to any student who would like opportunities and resources to enhance his or her academic experience at Mayville State University. Services include: peer tutoring and traditional study groups. Online tutoring is also available.
Disability Support Services
Reasonable accommodations and disability-related services are available to students with documented disabilities. Students wishing to request services from DSS may call 701-788-4675 or email katie.richards.2@mayvillestate.edu to set up an appointment.
Counseling Services
Students are confronted with a variety of situations and decisions at Mayville State University. Counseling Services exist to help students learn to deal effectively with problem areas in their lives. Assistance is provided in such areas as personal development, coping with conflict, improving self-understanding and interpersonal relationships, time management, and developing realistic career plans. Referrals to professional counseling services off-campus are available as needed.

Writing Center
We offer FREE appointments for all students focused on
- Understanding your assignment
- Brainstorming
- Clarifying ideas
- Incorporating research
- Proofreading
- Correctly using MLA, APA, etc.
We offer three appointment types:
- "Face-to-Face" appointments meet in person with a writing center consultant at the scheduled appointment time in the MSU Library.
- "Video-Chat Online" appointments meet online at the scheduled appointment time and are done in real time anywhere with a solid internet connection.
- "E-mail Feedback" appointments will provide you with written feedback within 24 hours of making the appointment.
