Career Services, located in the Academic Advising Center (Old Main 101), serves as a resource for students and alumni seeking help with career planning, job searching strategies, resume and cover letter development, and interview techniques.  Visit www.mayvillestate.edu/careers for online resources related to Career Services.

Internship

An internship experience benefits students by providing the opportunity to explore career options and career-related experiences.  All students, in all majors, during any semester, can gain academic credit through enrollment in a discipline’s 497S internship course.  Career Services facilitates the registration of internship experiences for academic credit with internship evaluation completed by academic divisions.  Students who plan to register for any internship 497S course should check with the Financial Aid Office to verify all matters related to financial aid eligibility, verification of student enrollment, eligibility for Veterans Administration benefits, and any other reporting or status questions which must be documented by the institution.

Early planning of internships is recommended and students are encouraged to seek guidance from Career Services.

Students have interned for small firms as well as regional, national, and internationally known companies. Internships cover a wide range of experiences, including employment in private industry, governmental agencies, and non-profit organizations.
