NURS 605 Applied Economics, Finance & Budgeting in Health Care

This course will focus on the fundamentals of finance and budgeting in health care delivery. Topics of emphasis include economics, financial principles, budget development, management of operational and capital resources, influence of private and public policy, federal and state payment systems and regulations, private insurance issues, budgeting models that affect quality outcomes, financial planning using information systems, productive and non-productive time management, responsible management of fiscal and physical resources, and budget and resource decision-making aligned with organizational outcome achievement and in the provision of efficient and cost-effective quality health care. Prerequisite: Admission to the MSN program or Division of Nursing approval.
