EDUC 435 Middle School Methods & Materials
This course examines middle school education emphasizing the role of the teacher's work with young adolescents providing developmentally responsive teaching practices. Students will examine how characteristics unique to this age group influence a teacher's effectiveness in the classroom. A focus on the use of appropriate research-based instructional strategies for middle school curriculum will guide understandings of how teachers can effectively provide an interactive, academically rigorous and standards-based classroom that allows the teacher to provide differentiated support to meet middle school students' needs.
