Pending ND Board of Nursing Approval

Admission Criteria

A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 2.5 in college course work.
Completion of the pre-requisite courses with a grade of a "C" or higher.

Students applying to the professional nursing program must:

  • Be admitted to Mayville State University (MASU) as a pre-nursing major
  • Complete the nursing program application (separate from the MASU application)
  • Pre-Licensure BSN applications are accepted in the fall semester to start the following spring semester in NURS 121
  • In order to be eligible for spring nursing program admission, the final pre-requisite courses must be in-process and completed by the end of summer semester prior to the start of fall semester
  • Submit application fee
  • Complete background check if offered conditional acceptance to the professional program. Background check results may affect final admission
  • Proof of current healthcare provider approved CPR certification
  • Provide any additional items as requested (for example: immunization documentation, drug screen)

The Division of Nursing at Mayville State University offers a GUARANTEED ADMISSION TO THE NURSING MAJOR to students who meet the criteria for guaranteed admission listed below. After reviewing applications, the Student Admissions and Progression Committee in the Division of Nursing will notify accepted students by May 15th.

Criteria for Guaranteed Admission to the nursing major:

  • ACT score 24 or higher or cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Planned graduation from a North Dakota or Minnesota High School
  • Complete the nursing program application before May 5th of your senior year in high school

In addition, the following requirements must be met:

  • Maintain MASU cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher throughout pre-requisite courses for the nursing major
  • No course repeats
