HPER 166 Swimming and Basic Water Safety

The course includes refining the basic swimming strokes (Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke), the introduction of butterfly, and general water safety topics, including boating, pool safety, and self-help techniques in the water. Students will develop an awareness of aquatic accident risk factors, prevention methods, and basic rescue techniques to improve safety in and around aquatic environments. Prerequisite: HPER 126 or successful completion of the equivalency test.
