Graduate Programs
Mayville State University currently offers the following graduate degree programs.
Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)
Teacher Education has been a major focus of the MSU campus mission for over 125 years. MSU has a strong reputation for preparing qualified teachers for schools throughout the country with eighty percentage of the MSU graduates securing teaching positions in North Dakota. The master’s degree and graduate credit offerings provide professional level training to increase the number of master degree teachers, assists with addressing the teacher shortage areas across the state and graduate credit to assist teachers for licensure renewal and salary increases due to lane changes.
Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.)
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program prepares registered nurses with broad knowledge and practice expertise that builds and expands on baccalaureate nursing generalist practice. MSU offers two MSN tracks focused on the role of the nurse educator and on nursing leadership and management in addition to graduate certificate programs in both track areas. Development of a fuller understanding of the discipline of nursing through mastery of the Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing fosters engagement in higher-level practice and leadership in a variety of practice and academic settings. Promoting a commitment to lifelong learning, graduates seamlessly transition into a research or practice-focused doctoral program.
Master of Education (M.Ed.)
The Master of Education courses will provide online courses for licensed teachers wanting to pursue graduate level instruction, to achieve a higher educational preparation level. It also provides a degree option for professionals outside of the K-12 teaching arena to prepare for teaching and learning within an organization. Arranged in 8-week blocks, graduate students enroll in one to three courses simultaneously with the opportunity for degree completion as early as one year. The courses are set in a rotation model and are designed so that the graduate student may choose either a part-time or full-time plan of study.
