SPED 400B Special Education Student Teaching
This course requires candidates to work in an assigned school with a cooperating special education teacher in the area that would appear on their transcript: Kindergarten; elementary; secondary, middle school or any combination thereof. This 5-week experience is taken in conjunction with the 10 weeks of student teaching arranged for the teacher candidate's corresponding double major. Qualified cooperating teachers and university supervisors provide support for, and evaluation of teacher candidates' planning, instruction and assessment practices. Placements are arranged in school settings that provide the candidate new and diverse teaching experiences to allow for greater professional growth. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education. Co-requisites: EDUC 400, EDUC 401.
