GEOG 330 Geography of Asia
Asia is now at the economic and cultural center of the world. The course serves as an introduction to the vast physical and cultural geographies of the region. This includes its physical settings and environments, population and migration trends, economics, languages, religions, popular cultures, and geopolitical organizations. Along the way the class will have opportunities to speak with local experts in and scholars of Asia. Instead of studying the stereotypes of Asian culture, commonly presented in American travel shows, this course will look at some of the more difficult areas of recent Asian history and contemporary cultures. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing, GEOG 103, GEOG 161.
