Business Administration B.A.S.

The B.A.S. degree is a flexible degree plan designed specifically to serve the advanced educational needs of a student who has earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), an Associate of Science (A.S.), or other Applied Associate degrees.
To be admitted to the B.A.S. program, a student must have complete an Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or within 12 semester hours of completion of an Associate Degree. The Associate degree will transfer as a block and the student will complete a “capstone” type of program.
Students who have completed most but not all of the prerequisites can still explore the B.A.S. program. Students may be able to complete the remaining 12 semester hours within the first semester of the program. Mayville State University offers an Associates of Arts program in Business Management to allow for completion of an Associate’s Degree for admission to the B.A.S. program.
The B.A.S. degree allows students to use their previous coursework and enhance their knowledge by enrolling in additional essential studies and professional courses to meet their career goals.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- SLO 1: Students will use critical thinking to apply business theories and/or methods to solve problems.
- SLO 2: Students will demonstrate oral and written communication skills appropriate to the contemporary business environment.
- SLO 3: Students will demonstrate individual contributions to accomplish identified team objectives.
- SLO 4: Students will participate in experiential learning which may include internships, service learning, leadership experience or other opportunities.
Requirements
Students must complete the following essential studies courses: COMM 110, ENGL 110, ENGL 120, or ENGL 125, and MATH 103 (College Algebra or a higher level Math course). Essential Studies credits must total 36 semester hours.

Any upper division (300-400 level) ACCT and BUSN courses or other relevant courses that have approval of the faculty advisor or division chair. This could include courses from a specialization listed in the Business Administration B.S. program.

Student should consult advisor for selection of additional elective courses to ensure that a total of no less than 120 credits is successfully completed.
