EDUC 436 Kindergarten Methods

This course emphasizes developmentally appropriate practices for instruction in the kindergarten classroom. Students design and assess teacher-made materials, demonstrate skills in student assessment and use of research-based instructional strategies to teach early literacy, science, mathematics, arts, music and movement, and social studies. Students will develop and implement lesson plans that support differentiated instruction and child-directed activities for kindergartners. Students learn strategies to develop supportive home-school relationships and classroom volunteer networks. Prerequisite: EC 210, EC 211, EDUC 250. Fall.
