EC 210 Introduction to ECE

This course is to be completed during the first semester of the first year a student is in the Early Childhood program. Students will learn about the early childhood profession, its multiple historical, philosophical, and social foundations. The conditions of children, families, and professionals that affect programs for young children, will also be explored. Some of the conditions addressed include: cultural diversity socio-economic conditions, and family structures. Course content also includes play, and the stages of cognitive, social/affective, and physical development of young children. This course is for educators who will be teaching in Birth to Third Grade classrooms. Corequisite: EC 211. Fall, Spring, Summer.
