Registration Action – Adding or Dropping Courses

Students may add or drop 16-week session courses using "Campus Connection" the first 10 calendar days of the semester. After that time, each registration change (add/drop) requires the following procedures:

Note: 5-week and 8-week session courses follow these procedures with their own set of due dates. Contact the Office of Academic Records for more details. 

Add/Drop an On Campus course:

  1. Secure a Registration Action form from the Office of Academic Records in Old Main 114.
  2. Secure the instructor’s signature for each class added or dropped.
  3. Secure the advisor’s signature.
  4. Secure the following signature(s):
    1. Financial Aid Officer if receiving financial aid
    2. Athletic Officer if an athlete
    3. Veteran Officer if a veteran
  5. Present the completed form to the Office of Academic Records for processing.

All “Registration Action” forms must be completed and filed with the Office of Academic Records in order to become official changes. The official date of these changes will be the date received at the Office of Academic Records.

Add/Drop Extended Learning courses BIOL 220/BIOL 220L, BIOL 221/BIOL 221L:

  1. Send an e-mail to ExtendedLearning@mayvillestate.edu stating name, student ID number, and the Catalog number (i.e. BIOL 220) and name of the course to add/drop. An attempt to add/drop course(s) in ConnectND by the student will be unsuccessful.

Add/Drop a Dual Credit course:

  1. To add/drop a dual credit course, first receive permission from your high school principal or superintendent. then have your principal, school counselor, or superintendent contact the Office of Extended Learning at 701-788-4667 to complete the add/drop.

Add/Drop an Online, IVN, Off Campus face-to-face course:

  1. Degree-seeking students should consult with their advisor. Non-degree students, begin at step 2.
  2. The student should notify the instructor. 
  3. If the student is receiving financial aid, is an athlete, or a veteran, notify that officer.
  4. Send an e-mail to records@mayvillestate.edu stating name, student id number, and the Catalog number (i.e. ENGL 120) and name of the course to add/drop. An attempt to add/drop course(s) in ConnectND by the student will be unsuccessful.

Add/Drop an Online BSN Nursing course:

  1. Students should consult with the program administrator.
  2. Send an email to: nursing@mayvillestate.edu stating name, student ID number, and the catalog number (i.e. NURS 310) and name of the course to add/drop. An attempt to add/drop courses in ConnectND by the student will be unsuccessful.

Note: The student will receive a failing grade on their academic record if the procedure is not followed.

Note: Students cannot drop to zero courses on Campus Connection. This is considered a withdrawal from school. See Withdrawal from the University.

Note: Beginning Spring 2017, degree-seeking students will be required to contact their assigned academic advisor prior to initial registration for the term. The academic advisor will remove the hold so the student may register.
